Haha :) You would do well at them because you play COD4 :) Portal is actually more of a puzzle game, but I think everyone would agree that it's extremely good/fun and worth the short amount of time it takes to beat it.

If you play TF2, though, you can play with some of us from the site :)

Well then, I'm glad a game that hooked you was the one you tried first ;) If your PC can handle modern games, I would recommend checking out Team Fortress 2 and Portal for shooters, since they're both extremely good games and a great place to start for shooters on the PC.

I know for me personally, shooters on consoles haven't ever quite been as fun as they are on the PC. :)
