Yesterday, July 3rd, Atlus announced that Persona 2 will be coming to American PS2s this December 12th 2008.  It was inevitable the game would be coming here considering the acclaim Persona 3 received from critics and gamers alike.  The only question was when, and Atlus answered.  Persona 4 takes place in a Japanese countryside at Gekkkoukan High, where a mysterious string of murders have taken place, and of course it's up to you and your team to find the answers.  Persona 3 introduced an interesting relationship system in which you had to build friendships to help boost abilities and teamwork.  In Persona 4 that system returns along with crafting weapons and even having part-time jobs.  The setting seems to take place with an 70's or 80's type feel to it.

Atlus has announced every copy of the game will be packaged with the soundtrack as well, with pricing set at $39.99.  So get your pre-orders in now, and start the countdown to December 9th 2008.  In the meantime, here is the Announcement trailer to help tide you over.

i KNEW you'd play persona. i was looking at my copy of it today and i was all like "you know, i bet mike owns this game"

cool, thats good because the original persona 2 for the ps1 is hard to find and runs around 50-75 dollars on ebay, they should also add 1, persona 3 is on my waiting list, playing rogue galaxy at the moment, and the persona 3 will be next,
