Hardcore vs. Casual. Does it really matter?

One of the things that really grinds my gears is that some gamers bitch about the lack of hardcore games, or too many casual games. Or they look down on some gamers because they are casual gamers. Seriously? Really now?
When I asked these people to name these "hardcore" games, I start shaking my head.
Me (Working at Same Gtop): So, what is a hardcore game?
Regular Customer: Halo, Gears, Call of Duty, *insert mainstream crap here*
Me: Okay..what are some casual games?
Customer: Everything on the Wii.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A HARDCORE/CASUAL GAME. If this was the case, then every game on the market is casual.
However, there are Hardcore gamers and Casual gamers.
A typical casual gamer will pick up a game, play it for a few hours, and put it away.
A casual gamer plays some games, but they don't limit themselves to one genre.
They don't take themselves seriously when they play games. They don't care if they suck. It's just fun.
I've seen casual gamers play rpgs, platforms, mmorpgs, and tactics. Hell, I've seen casuals play fucking Beatmania, which is the most difficult rhythm game to ever master, and owned it.
Now as for Hardcore gamers (which is my opinion):
A hardcore gamer will pick up a game, play it for hours/days and finish the game.
A hardcore gamer plays all games from every genre, or at least try before bashing the genre.
A hardcore gamer does not give a flying fuck about how "kiddy" or how "mature" the game is. A game is a game.
A hardcore gamer does not give a flying fuck about which system is better, or who's selling the most.
Most hardcore gamers take themselves waaaay to fucking seriously playing games. Including me. haha
I've seen hardcore gamers play Nintendogs, mini games, and Wii fit.
Even when its all said and done, does it really matter? Casual and Hardcore, we are all gamers. We are no better than anyone else. Get off your high horse and just play.
