ex. I'm stuck in a room with a box and a gnome. How do I get out?

  It finally happened...

As the title states...it finally happened. The 360 gave me a big fat RRoD. I asked Bill Gates what that meant. He told me not to worry, that it was nothing big. But, instead of sending it in to get it fixed, I should go out and buy a brand new Elite to stimulate the economy.

But seriously, what a crappy time to lose the 360. I had it a little over a year with no issues. I constantly read blogs / comments / horror stories of other "poor saps" who experienced the RRoD not just once, but up to 5 times over the past two years. I thought I was in the clear, breezing my way through hours of gameplay, leaving it on to download entire seasons of my favorite shows and movies.

But tonight was the night. I pressed the fabled button on my controller to turn the little slut on, and there she was with her red light. Dirty whore. As I sat there, contemplating what to do next, it dawned on me. This was supposed to happen. I'm finally going back to school to finish my bachelor's degree, and the 360 was my main source of procrastination for homework. But now that it's died, I have no excuse to skirt the homework. I'm almost thinking of waiting to get it fixed (buy a new one) until I finish my degree...use it as motivation. Yeah, I will use the lack of a 360 as motivation to finish my degree even faster, working hard and staying the course! This is awesome. I'm so inspired!!!

Wow, the 360 still sounds so great and dependable! Excuse me while I actually play my PS3...or maybe my PS2 that has been working for over 8 years.

Tsk tsk. I still play my PS2 quite religiously. During this downtime, I've had a chance to get started on some classics again.

But I will agree with you. The 360 a let down. But so is cocaine, and a lot of people like that stuff. However, you will see me back on XBL after I shell out countless dollars to replace a system that SHOULD last a lot longer than a year. What can I say...I have a man-crush on Bill Gates.

You know, I bought an Elite, and about 3 months later, I left it on over night to download the Mirror's Edge demo, I think it was, but I woke up the next morning and went to check the download, and all I saw was the power button lit up in red. I literally screamed "NO!!!!" I freaked out. But then I unplugged everything & hooked it all back up in a sad, desperate attempt to make myself believe it wasn't true, which, turns out, it wasn't. I'm not sure why the red lights were there, but my 360 pretty much works great. Minus the random times when it won't read my games. :( So maybe it's just like, a false alarm, your 360's attempt to give you a heart attack. ;)

Unfortunately, it's dead. I suspect it's the optical drive. Reading into it, it sounds like an easy fix, but at the same time, frustrating. Oh well, I just have to come to terms that Chauncey the 3rd is down and out. I have a new one on its way, so I might have a Letterman moment, toss the thing off a roof and watch it shatter.
