What I’m most looking forward to, video game wise, in 2009 is the plethora of games coming out that I MUST play. Let me go ahead and name a couple for you. *ahem* I’m looking forward to the serious games like Batman: Arkham Asylum and God of War 3 to fun cute games like Loco Roco 2 and Patapon 2. The confirmed games like Guitar Hero: Metallica Edition and the rumored games like SingStar: Queens Edition. I want to play the remakes of games such as Splatterhouse and brand spanking new games like The Conduit. I want to play games not many have heard of like Sadness and the big popular games everyone is looking forward to like Halo: ODST.
I want to see how far developers push the envelope. I want to continue to be amazed by stunning graphics and blown away by beautiful scores. I want to see what crazy tricks these people have up their sleeves and where they will take our favorite form of entertainment. I want to marvel at the insanely impressive graphics of Resident Evil 5 and admire the beautifully bright visuals of Muramasa: The Demon Blade.
I just want to continue playing the hell out of great titles, owning people over Xbox Live, toting my Nintendo DS&Sony PSP everywhere I go and just enjoying what I love.
BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM!!!!!!!; Resident Evil 5; and Aliens: Colonial Marines
These 3 are all already pre-ordered and paid off!!!! I'm too excited for these ones!
4 games have me rock-hard for 2009:
Star Ocean 4 (still my favorite rpg mechanics of all time)
Final Fantasy XIII (c'mon... even the FF haters secretly love all the over-the top emotional shit every FF offers)
No More Heroes 2 (well underrated... NMH is still the only reason i see for a hardcore gamer to have a Wii outside of some virtual console classics)
Resident Evil 5 (after 4, how can you not be excited for this??)
the end. one love, riot. keep ya head up.
I can only imagine the direction developers and designers will take the nexgen of games and systems. Graphics can only get so realistic before they need to start immersing the gamer into the game, i.e. virtual 3D. But then again, simple games can be just as satisfying. But I believe the trend will be toward motion directed gaming, like the Wii.
