Mood: Confused
So this year at the FanExpo that ran in Toronto this past weekend, I passed the Entropia Universe. I was talking to one of the guys there about it, the program seems interesting, but the business side of it confused me.
The guy said that the game is free to play, but everyone has the option of "investing" funds into the game. He continued saying that you can pull funds out of the game as well, and that you will get more money out of the game than what you put into it.
My first thought was that it was free for only basic play, and charged for full play, but according to the guy it is completely free.
So how does Mindark turn a profit if I can take out money earned in the game into real funds? I mean from the sounds of it, I can choose not to invest any funds into the game, and as soon as I get 10ped, I can change it to a single dollar.
What is the hook? Am I missing something?
