Bungling secret agent Maxwell Smart, also known as Agent 86 for CONTROL, is on a mission to battle the forces of their evil crime nemesis known as KAOS with his more-competent partner Agent 99, (whose real name is never revealed) at his side. When the headquarters of U.S. spy agency Control is attacked and the identities of its agents compromised, the Chief has no choice but to promote his ever-eager analyst Maxwell Smart, who has always dreams of working in the field alongside stalwart superstar Agent 23. Smart will do whatever it takes to thwart the latest plot for world domination by KAOS.
Ok, so before I saw this, I asked people if they knew about the TV show it is based on. Only the one person I went to the film with knew about it. That made me sad. But the movie on the other hand, made me happy, so it was a win. I'll say this though, don't go expecting stuff like other Steve Carell films. It's just not the that genre or style. Not saying he wasn't a bad choice, I'm just saying it isn't the same kind of movie of 40 Year Old Virgin or Dan In Real Life. But that's good. It wasn't suppose to be like those films.
Moving on. It does start out a little bit slow, but quickly picks up in action and humor. It almost didn't seem like it was a two hour film. I know I say that a lot, I usually have a great sense of time. When a film fuddles with that, then I was too engrossed to pay attention to my normal ticks of insanity. Any ways, outside of the humor and action, they got a really good cast together for this film. Even the Rock was fucking awesome in it. Not saying he isn't in general, but there are loads of people who don't think it.
In the end, this film is worth a good watch. Cheap tickets or not, you shouldn't walk away feeling shafted. Even more so if you watched and loved the show before hand.
Pwned Quite a bit
