So.. i just spent the morning playing guitar hero, and after a few hours i discovered that the yellow button wasnt working right. it kept cutting out in the middle of held notes and sometimes not coming on for hammer ons, so i thought "meh no biggy, i'll just take it apart and give it a bit of a clean"...
but ohhhhh nooo nothing is THAT simple. when i got to the very last screw (the one holding the buttons down) there was all glue around it, and it wouldnt come out. after spending ages trying to get this screw out id completely ruined the head of the screw and there was nothing left of it, so i started using other tools, desperate to get this screw out. but non of them worked. so my dad came up with the idea of using a hacksaw to make a new slit. which worked, and we got the screw out... YAYY.
but then i look at the circuit board. and 2 of the wires had broken off.
now, i dont have a soldering iron, or any solder, but cus i REALLY want to play the game, instead of going to the store, i put my screwdriver/paperclip/safety pins in the gas of my oven and start to melt the solder. i did this for about 2 hours, and it actually worked, but then i saw that the metal bit around the hole on the circuit board had started to come off. so yeh... its pretty much over now. circuit board = broken. me = crying.
so ive now had to pay $90 for a new controller, for a game that ive already completed about 4 times. and only one button is broken, the blue one.... URGHHHHH
OH YAY... WHAT FUN.
on top of that, the melting solder has giving me a really bad headache, and im really pissed off.
can anyone tell me if its worth putting my old broken controller on ebay AS BROKEN. like do you think anyone would buy it for parts or to try fix it?
i really dunno if anyone would be interested, maybe some of you ebay users have seen similar stuff being sold on there before.
anyway... im kinda pissed, so i think im going to lay down now.
Yea dude, you should eBay it. People buy all sorts of useless crap online, but be sure to list exactly what the problem is so they can't call you on false advertising.
does gh not have any warranty?
but to answeer your question you could definately put it on ebay, peopel always make custom gh controllers and i think having it on there people would liekly be attracted to buy it. Also you coudl probably help the auction go along well if you posted it in soem gh forums, the one that comes to mind is called Score Heros i think.
sorry to hear that 1337 boy but i would just put that damn thing on ebay cuz i would be pissed :P i know how you feel my controller wont even come on now it shorted out in the wires and i took it apart and looked at it nothing seemed to be wrong everything was connected but it still would work when i put it back together...... next time as soon as you see its more work than it needs to be make ur self feel like a real rockstar and slam that bitch over somthing and smash it to pieces, you feel better and you know ur going to have to buy another one anyway
i would have sent you a new controller =(
i start at gamestop today, silly, you knew that.
and i'll be getting the employee discount.
aaannndddd i'm pretty sure they're cheaper over here =(
ahhhh i love youuuuuu....i'll make sure to cheer you up with something when i get home from work!
