Sword of the New World MMO

While I was sick, Neil and I talked about picking up a new MMO, so we wandered the net for a bit. I found a site for "Free MMOs" and eventually came across this little gem.

The game was apparently developed or produced by the same folks who did Ragnarock online. Despite the game originalyl being developed for Korea, this English export has no funky translations that I've yet found (I'm lvl 18 atm) and did I mention the game is FREE?

Well thats not entirely accurate.

The game is based around a "Micropayment market" as my roommate likes to call it. Essentially you can buy items with real cash, which is where the game's money is made. Otherwise for the rest of us casual gamers, its just a download from the site a registration (that is a little bit borked) and booyah, you're immersed in a sexy colonial baroque atmosphere with soem really fun background music (but it gets old after about 8 hours).

Here's the Wiki entry on the game

The game plays a little bit like Dungeon Siege. You control THREE (yes 3) characters at the same time. Each class is versitle and interesting. Within each class there are different stances which will change depending on what you have equipped. I haven't grouped up with anyone else yet because I dont feel I need to.

Here is my Party -

You choose a Family name that all of your characters bare, and then can have 15 PCs in your "Quarters"

My family name is of course, Miragel.

The Characters in the above picture are - A Scout, The Musketeer, and my Elementalist. The combo has been MORE then accomidating to me thus far. The Scout functions as different things depending on her stance. She can heal or she can DPS. The Musketeer is by FAR my favorite class thus far as there's nothing more satisfying the hearing her rifle go off and seeing things die - immediately. The Elementalist is my magical nuker. Pretty standard MMO class there.

However these three aren't the only classes, and they certainly dont have to be used in the combo I've put them in.

The game is just beautiful, and I've had a really fun time with it. I can set the party to "defend" mode in the dungeon and get up to get a drink. That for me = win. There are a lot of little details in the game that suit my playing style, and thus far I'm having a blast.

Again - free.

Here's a look at the UI -

As you can see there's three ppl in my party, running off to rain doom on some unsuspecting monsters.

I've had so many ppl ask me "what's the new MMO?" That I thought I'd put this little review up here. I'm on the first server (it starts witha "C" It's like Caesarus or something) and I recommend the game for ppl who've never played MMOs or are bored as hell with the current ones.

Let me know if you build a family. If there's enough folks I'll put a guid together if only to chat with friends. :)

Or.. maybe to kill that fucking douchbag monster that wiped my party for the FIRST time EVER last night. Fucker. He's gonna pay.
