Talking E3 on ManiaTV's show Arcade

Robert Welkner of COIN-OP TV guest appeared on ManiaTV for the show ARCADE on its season finale episode. ManiaTV is an internet TV channel with roots that date back as far as 2004. Upon launch it was one of the first live/interactive internet channels out there which helped launch Tom Green Live and Dave Navarrorsquo;s Spread TV. ARCADE is one of the few lsquo;carry overrsquo; shows still attached to the channel since their move from Denver to Los Angeles. ARCADE is hosted by Rob Talbert, a Detroit native who started gaming with the NES and also has a passion for music and movies.
Robert Welkner helped sit in on Arcadersquo;s lsquo;War Roomrsquo; segment and contributed his two cents about the upcoming E3 expectations. Check out the segment here: http://coin-op.tv/?p=389

Donkey Kong underdog Steve Wiebe still hunts for glory

This Sunday (June 1st 2008) The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters will see its World Television Premiere on the G4 network.
This documentary film chronicles much of the arcade gaming champions
and their quests for titles and glory but mostly features Steve Wiebe
and his attempt to face Billy Mitchell in a mano a mano Donkey Kong
face off. The King of Kong was championed at film festivals across the
world with much fan approval and appreciation at the Slamdance film
festival where it was picked up for distribution. The DVD release of
the film features an abundance of extras including commentaries by the
filmmakers and deleted sequences which help flesh out some of the
lsquo;charactersrsquo; in the movie.
As most of you know COIN-OP TV has been following and interviewing many of these classic arcade
champions since 2004. Wersquo;re all anxious and excited to see the movie

SC3 Arcade Party Pix

April 2008 marked another SC3 Arcade/Party gathering and COIN-OP TVrsquo;s Rob joined about fifty other arcade and video game fans for the festivities! For those unfamiliar - the party takes place at Steversquo;s house in Claremont CA where the owner dusts off his arcade collection (over 30 games) and puts them all on freeplay.Other SC3 members bring their consoles like the NES, Intellivision, Vectrex and more with a handful of games nearby ready to plug in and play. Other highlights were the Guitar Hero lsquo;room of doomrsquo; which allows players to go head to head on a large projection screen display and for the first time Rock Band took center stage on Steversquo;s giant screen TV for all to witness the pretend concerts.Pizza, booze and a mini-swap meet were other additions to the party. We ran into many familiar friends and met some new people as well! Our hope is that one day this

Shwayze on DJ Rossstar’s Punk Rock Show

Hailey and Robert from COIN-OP TV had the pleasure of crashing DJ Rossstarrsquo;s Punk Rock Show this week for his interview with alternative hip-hop artist Shwayze.nbsp;
For those not familiar with DJ Rossstarrsquo;s blend of internet charm - he
hosts a weekly internet radio show on Wednesdays and Thursdays and has
a knack for catching all the latest and hottest music acts as guests in
his studio which doubles as his apartment.
This week Warped Tour and current chart busters Shwayze were in town
for an interview.nbsp; They joked around with fans during the live show and
fielded questions about their music as well as sampled two tracks from
their upcoming album.nbsp; The atmosphere at DJ Rossstarrsquo;s is very relaxed
and after a while the gang started playing with Lightning Reaction a toy from the Shocking Fun company in which players have to push buttons faster then the next

SoCal Cosplay Gathering

This past weekend Mike (BlankLogo Photography) and Robert hit up the SoCal Cosplay Gathering which took place at a park in Irvine, California.nbsp; This event happens
about twice a year and is organized independently from a group of
friends who love to cosplay and want to share their outfits and time
with other fans of cosplay.nbsp; Cosplaying is all about dressing up as
your favorite anime or video game character with costumes made from
scratch.nbsp; In California we are lucky to have a wide variety of
cosplayers who show up to all the events.
Beyond hanging out and modeling for photographers the SoCal Cosplay
Gathering had Rock Band and Super Smash Bros Brawl tournaments, plenty
of food and sodas as well as giveaways and contests like one for lsquo;best
cosplay outfitrsquo; which went to our friend Anela who can be found in the COIN-OP TVrsquo;s Anime Expo 2007 interviews.

strange seeing so much nekkid breast action.... anyway the film had a
few remotely funny parts and wasnt so terrible - even Jessica Alba's
acting in it was okay ;)

King of Kong DVD Art Show Signing

Over the Easter Weekend Gallery Nucleus held an art show opening and dvd signing for The King of Kong - a movie about the top two Donkey Kong World Record holders Steve
Wiebe and Billy Mitchell. This is the second art show exhibit for the
brand new location of Gallery Nucleus (Alhambra, CA) and I must say the
new spot is a vast improvement! The old location was very cramped and
made it difficult to enjoy the show but now everything is spread out
enough for free movement and pacing.

In attendance at the event were all the major players in getting The
King of Kong movie made which was director Seth Gordon, producer Ed
Cunningham, DVD commentary suppliers Chris Carle and Jon Gibson and special guest Scott C. who flew in for the event. Scott provided the inside alternative art cover for the DVD release. This cover features a vast collect of characters
and arcade machines all line

Wizard World Los Angeles 3/08

Wizard World Los Angeles came and went - it wasnrsquo;t the biggest or
loudest show but it was fun and local and worth checking out.
Apparently things had been scaled down from last year according to word
of mouth but the show floor was bumping and busy on Saturday (not so
much on Sunday). We got to meet and interview Seth Green (Austin
Powers, Robot Chicken) and also Summer Glau (Terminator: The Sarah
Conner Chronicles and Serenity) which will appear in the next video
podcast episode.
As for cool costumes and gear - the usual group of Star Wars
Stormtroopers, Jedi and even some droids were present at the event. A
really neat Predator outfit and best group in show award had to go to
the Gears of War posse which was in full force. Wizard World LA doesnrsquo;t
showcase any sort of costume contest or show - so outfits were at an
all-time low at this event overall. In addition t
