Excitement Over God War III

God of War and PS3 fans alike are geeked at the trailer of the latest installment of the series set to be released in March 2009 (according to most recent reports). With more than 6 months to go before the release, the YouTube hits alone on the trailers for the game have been extremely popular for the last few weeks.

Any reality television junkie will recognize the line from Heidi Klum's Project Runway. For those who don't, no worries, you get the point. Well, according to the September issue of People's Style Watch, Girl Gamers are in, at least for now.

Braid :: Game Review

Given all the hype surrounding the new XBLA title, Braid, I had to see what it was all about and judge for myself whether it was warranted. So much like the other hoards of people, I downloaded the game (1200 points) and started in on my quest. After a day and a half of nearly non-stop play, I have beaten the game and can say with a certainty, I understand the hype.
About a week ago I heard all about this little game on Xbox Live Arcade and then few days ago, while doing some research, I found out that it ranked tenth for Xbox 360 games of all time, beating out some strong competitors. Then there is the price. At 1200 points, roughly 15-16 dollars, it was better than some games I have purchased for sixty-plus dollars.

Kung Fu Panda and Wall-E :: Movie Review

***SPOILER ALERT***
A bit obvious, at this point, that I am a HUGE movie-goer. It is my vice. I even spend the money to see the so-called kiddie movies. So yes, this summer I wanted to see how Kung Fu Panda and Wall-E would hold up next to the blockbusters that were released. I received a special request to give my honest opinions on Kung Fu Panda, so here you go.
Animated movies, especially the G or PG-rated tend do to very in the summer since parents can bring the children. This is good and bad for the industry. Sometimes, garbage is generated for the sake of those precious ticket sales with no regard for the intelligence of the audience. Neither was the case for Wall-E and Kung Fu Panda.

CSI: Hard Evidence Game Review

I am a gamer. I like games. That is my declaration. Sometimes, I like games that really don't get a great deal of attention. But much like movies, I am willing to try anything at least once. I have found many special little gems I find quite entertaining that I may not have otherwise even known about. These little diamonds in the rough can be old or new but the one thing they have in common is I gave them a shot despite not being uber popular and ended up liking them, or in some cases falling in love.
I have a confession to make, some games I play and like are for purely selfish reasons, for example, oh maybe achievement points. So I have admitted I am an achievement hunter and there are games that help you to easily rack up the gamer score without cheating. One such game is CSI: Hard Evidence. Released late last year for the Xbox 360 and earlier this year for the Wii, the ga

In true Epic fashion, a 60 second trailer gives you just enough information to wait with bated breath for the sequel to the blockbuster hit but leaves you craving more. Gamers have a love affair with Gear of War 2 already. It is the equivalent to dating someone but they want to wait before taking to the next level. When that day comes will he deliver the goods or will you be making a booty call? I guess we will find out when we make our rendezvous in November.

Wanted:: Movie Review

**SPOILER ALERT**
Ever go to a movie that feels like it would be a kick-ass video game (if it was done right, of course) because of the non-stop action that just above the line of reality story and special effects? I canrsquo;t say I had either until I saw Wanted. Not only was the beautiful Lara Croft, er, um, Angelina Jolie a bad ass assassin but her acrobatics in this movie put Tomb Raider to shame.

The movie has a story told many times before. Bored and pathetic young man finds out he is the son of one the worldrsquo;s greatest assassins and is recruited into the Fraternity, a secret society of assassins that started a thousand years before. These world class assassins get their contracts from a secret loom, yes loom, a large contraption used to weave cloth. Sound a little over the top? It is, but it is also loosely based on the widely popular comic miniseries by Mark Millar

Metal Gear Solid 4 ... First Impression

Before I go into my first impressions of this hellacious game, let me state for the record that beginning a game that is easily a hundred hour game during a move cross country while living out of hotels was not in any way shape or form the smartest decision I have ever made. First, I had trouble finding time to play and I would have withdrawals because I wanted to see what was going to happen next. The game sucks you in like an addicting soap opera. Second, did you know some televisions in hotels are bolted down and do not have the proper connections? Can someone please explain this phenomenon to me?
I must admit, please donrsquo;t hate me, I had never played any of the Metal Gear Solid games before this one. I have a nephew, Alejandro, who is an amazing gamer and he loved the series. With all the hype surrounding the release of this highly anticipated game, and after much coaxing

New Gamer Social Site

Every once in a while I like something so much that I decide I want to immerse myself in it and tell the world. Last year it was the ECA; yes, I still love them and work with them as often as I can, and Pwned this year. This year is a new social network for gamers that is trying to take it to the next level. Given all the hype, I decided to give it a shot and sign up for beta testing.
So far, I am falling in love!

The site is HoopleDoople and so far I am having a blast. It is a great combination of our favorites, YouTube and MySpace. The best part of course is that is for adult gamers. Yes that is correct you have to 18 years old to join the site! That is the best part for me, it is bad enough I have to listen to 12 year silliness while playing Gears of War online, I don't want to deal with them more than I have to and the site gives me that option. I heart movies. I heart Gears of War. I heart Len Wiseman. The only thing I could heart more would be this trifecta!

Yes, it was recently announced that Len Wiseman is set to direct the movie adaptation of 2007 Game of the Year, Gears of War. Granted we have been hearing about this alleged movie for over a year but with filming scheduled to start next year in time for a 2010 release, it's time to start getting things in "gear" (I made a funny!).

Nintendo Sues Nyko

Peripheral powerhouse Nyko is being sued by console powerhouse Nintendo. Nyko has walked the fine line of licensing, trademark and patent infringement for years. Most companies have been lenient with products until now. The lawsuit comes on the heels of the creation of the Kama Nunchuck. I did attempt to contact a Nyko representative, to no avail. Only one comment was released. "We have not knowingly violated anyone's intellectual property and we're still examining this," states C.C. Swiney.
Nyko was blamed in the past for aiding in the overheating of the Xbox 360 by Microsoft but no lawsuits have been filed of this magnitude. I have used many Nyko products and some of them are great, such as the charging kits, but for controllers and peripherals I always go with the originals for obvious reasons.

The Happening :: Movie Review

***SPOILER ALERT***

M. Night Shyamalan is controversial to say the least and quite creative. He received critical acclaim with The Sixth Sense and Signs and commercial failure with The Village and Lady in the Water (jury was deadlocked on Unbreakable) putting him at a breakeven point with movie goers. Shyamalan has something of a cult following because his movies always push the envelope and he is very popular for his "twists" and the end of the movies.
Okay, so his latest release was not expected to gross well, based on his last two flops however in a surprising twist (haha, pun intended) it finished second in its opening weekend. Listed as a horror or thriller on most sites, it is more of a suspense drama. Read on only if you want to know what I really think.

The Strangers :: Movie Review

***SPOILER ALERT***
American horror reclaims its throne with new release The Strangers. This movie reels you in from the beginning where it tells you the movie is "inspired by true events" which automatically put me on the edge of my seat.
"The film you are about to see is inspired by true events. According to the F.B.I. there are an estimated 1.4 million violent crimes in America each year. On the night of February 11, 2005 Kristen McKay and James Hoyt went to a friend's wedding reception and returned to the Hoyt family's summer home. The brutal events that took place there are still not entirely known."
Okay, so inspired by is completely different than based on but it does not change the fear as the horror flick has people screaming and gasping for the entire hour and a half.

There was a time, not so long ago, when video games were so underground, there was no G4TV, no shows based on video games like Code Monkeys, and no commercials for video games. Now video games and video game marketing is growing at such an exponential rate, it can be hard to keep up. Lately, cable companies and internet service providers are realizing the power of the gamer. They have started campaigning directly to the video gamer to compete for our affection and loyalty by convincing of the power their service can yield, making us better players.

Ever feel like no matter how many copycats or follow-ups and spinoffs there, nothing beats the original? Me too! I loved, adored Lara Croft; the Mummy series was okay; I didn't care for National Treasure but nothing beats Indiana Jones, and no one plays him like Harrison Ford. When I heard that Indy was coming back to the big screen, I could not contain myself. I was so very happy to hear that Mr. Ford signed on and then they added the young up and coming hottie Shia LaBeouf. I, too, have been bitten by the bug. I have become a reality show junkie. One of my favorites straight out the gate was Bad Girls Club on Oxygen. I have always been a fan of the Oxygen channel because it isn't as soft as Lifetime and they have the raunchier programming I love.
