The nintendo characters never looked better they look so good that they even look better than some xbox360 games. The gameplay as the same with a few new and better additions and the subspace emmisary will give you something to do for a while but thats the problem, if you have 3 friends ready to play get ready to play co-op and that really let me down thats the only thing keeping it from a perfect score. The extremely large soundtrack and sfx of every item keeps you listening for hours on end. Oh yeah another pet peeve I had was the fact that no one talked in subspace emmisay, What, did everyone lose there voice boxes like Link and Mario, or did they just dumb down to grunts, oohs, ahhs, and oui. The Ai is the same as before it would just be nice if the cpu recognizes every weapon that drops instead of randomly picking it up and going ohh that looks nice. With instant replay, mini-games, and a stadium, the replay value is off the charts, not to mention online play is awesome as well. Allways something to see or show in the world of Super Smash Brothers Brawl.
Contrary to popular belief, the graphics are definitely improved from the Gamecube to the Wii. The hardware is definitely better and all the characters are sporting new looks. Link and Ganondorf look especially good in their new Twilight Princess outfits. Nintendo has done well with what they have, and I am happy, although it still doesn't compare to Virtua Fighter and Dead Or Alive on the 360.
The Wii also boasts Havok Physics™ which brings a new level of Realism to this 2D fighter. Although the game is still very fun and rediculous (People can't jump that high! Flowers don't shoot fire...), the physics have been greatly improved from the previous one which smooths out the gameplay for a more fine smooth gaming experience.
The characters are wide and varied. Virtually all popular Nintendo characters in existence are included in this game, and 2 special guest characters have been invited.
*******SPOILER WARNING******
Those two special guest characters are Konami's Snake from Metal Gear Solid. Snake? SNAKE? SNAAAAAAAKE! and Sega's Sonic "You're too slow!"
The characters range from the balanced Mario, to the strong Captain Falcon, to the slow but beefy Bowser, and the fast but light Pikachu. There is an endless ammount of posibilities, as each character boasts over 19 different attacks (5 A attacks, 5 B attacks, 4 grabs, and the 5 midairs). The fighting is intense and varied which results in a Unique fighting experience.
The items are very unique. Items are objects that randomly spawn on the stage, set to the speed of your choosing. They can either spawn rarely, occasionally, or very quickly all over the place and you can determine which items spawn. Items range from the Fire Flower which spews Flower, to the Warp Star which lifts you up off the screen and then brings you down in a huge explosion. If you are lucky, you will get your hands on a Hammer which is a special item that makes you nearly invincible and if you hit someone, it's nearly a one hit kill (depending on their damage). Occasionally a golden hammer appears which swings much faster, has special music, and is incredibly powerful, even compared to the regular hammer.
Brawl also boasts a Stage Editor. Although it is a bit limited in it's part, after you make 5, 10, and 15 stages you can unlock new parts. Some of those include Ferris Wheels and small buildings. The wide ammount of stages created are amazing and you can save these stages on an SD card. There are a few websites that allow you to upload stages from your SD card if you have a SD Card Reader on your computer. You can also download other people's stages and play them right off the SD card or copy/move them onto your Wii! I personally have uploaded a few stages on http://www.brawlstages.com under the name Tukimoshi. You can also send people your stages over Wi-Fi connection via your Wii.
Brawl is also the first Super Smash Bros. game to support online play. You can play with your friends for crazy experiences, have 1v1 or 2v2 2 minute battles against random people, or you can spectate your friends fights or even random fights. Watch and learn, or play against other people around the world. Due to the child-friendly and ever so paranoid Nintendo, you can not add random people to your friends list, as you need to know their long unique Friend Code, and you cannot talk to other players. You can only do taunts which support up to 15 letters or something. Not very long.
Brawl is an amazing game. With new graphics and physics, it looks and feels better than ever. With a wide roster of characters including 2 special guests, you won't get tired of playing the same people over and over again, and the work Nintendo has put into this really shows. This is really THE game to get for Nintendo Wii. I have it, and so should you.
