I have always hated the term "beat the game." I'm not sure what it entails, really. Many games cannot be "beaten," in fact most games which can be completed aren't truly beaten. The purpose of games, particularly ones with story, is to compel you to complete the story. In such a situation has not the game beaten you? You have, in fact, done what the developers wanted.
I'll play along, though, and answer the intent of the question. I suppose you can't really "beat" Team Fortress 2, although I have put more hours into that game than anything else I have played lately. I Suppose BioShock would be the last game I beat. I won't consider Mass Effect completed until I have chosen every single dialogue option at least once!
