wtf bbq ?
Early adopters of the Wii got to download a basic web browser for free. Since then, there's been a more full-featured browser available, but it costs $5.
To weigh in on why I'm glad I got my Wii and why I'd recommend it to others, I'm a huge fan of oddball, quirky games. I really view the craft of video game design as an art, and to see it used in so many fun, exciting ways like Katamari Damacy, Nintendogs, and Amplitude gets me drooling. So when I saw the potential to do things with the Wii you cannot possibly do anywhere else, I had to be there. I think that's the major appeal: when you buy a Wii, you have something unique. You can play games that no one else can. Mario Galaxy is superb, Zelda: Twilight Princess is as well. And there are many different experiences you've probably never imagined before.
Trauma Center: Second Opinion and Trauma Center: New Blood
You may have tried the DS version, but the graphics and motion control on the Wii make playing these games a thrill. The precision required is not hard to master, and New Blood even has a 2 player co-op mode. This series is fresh, it's something new, and that's what the Wii is about.
No More Heroes
This is an example of a game doesn't have to feature a ton of motion controls to make something original. You attack with the A button, and only once you deplete an enemy's life bar do you swing the remote in the indicated direction to deliver a gory deathblow. It's simple, engaging, and memorable. The game is also very funny and stylish. Mature rated, but worth checking out.
Resident Evil 4 and Okami
These games were released for other systems, but they really shine on the Wii. The pointer functionality gave me a much greater level of control, whether aiming a gun in Resi4, or painting in Okami. In addition to the number of great games made specifically for the Wii, I'm really glad we're getting remakes of older hits on the system, especially when they can be improved like this.
Sorry for being long winded. Hope you can learn enough about the Wii to make the right decision for you.
