Funneling them into registration works for most sites that want more registered users Vs. guests. Make the site viewable by registration only, set a cap of maximum registered users and when that reaches that number. Resort to invites and referrals to gain more users. Keeps out riffraff in the long run and makes your site more of a prize to be a member of. just a thought..
