When Reggie Fils Aime went off the record to Geoff Keighley on GameTrailers TV about a big announcement in this year's E3, we were all shocked when Mario Paint coming to Virtual Console next week wasn't it. I guess this means that Reggie has a bigger ace up his sleeve come E3.
For the first time ever, a Virtual Console game that is not compatible with the classic controller but rather the Wiimote and Nunchuck. It makes sense since Mario Paint was one of the few SNES games to support the SNES mouse. Our own Brian Crecente was able to get a first look at Mario Paint goodness.
Oh and the bigger news is that it will go on sale for the low low price of 500 Wii points up until April 15th! After that, it will be priced at the normal 800 Wii Points ($8.00) price tag.
hehe Crecente is really hamming it up. He's really digging the fly swatter game with motion controls. I've never seen Crecente that giddy before. There are a couple more videos within the Kotaku link. Crecente laughs like April from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, what a fool, eh?
Huzzah! Now I really gotta get me some Wii points!
“Life is like a video game. There is always that one final riddle, that one final boss to beat and then you get your happy ending. But in order to finish that riddle you have to clear your mind and start over fresh, and in order to beat that boss you sometimes have to fight until you are strong enough. But if you give up on the game then you never will know what that happy ending is.”
- Queen of Nintendo
Okay, I better end this quick before everyone hunts me down with their digital pitchforks and knives.
I pulled your leg. Mario Paint isn't coming to Virtual Console, April Fools! Had you guys clicked on the Kotaku link, you would have got RickRoll'd. Actually, you would have got RickRoll'd either way. The other link was the same song done in the Mario Paint composer.
However, if the community was plotting against me and "went with it" only for the prank to backfire, you got me. =P
Some of it was factual. Reggie did mention on Gametrailers TV that he did have a huge announcement for E3 '08 and April 15th is when the $29.99 discount for Warhawk (Playstation Network downloadable game) ends.
