GFM Message -
Hopefully together as a gaming community we can help overcome the bad gaming tendencies that carry some people to the point of complete gaming addiction. These habits are carried over into every facet of life weather you are able to admit it or not. Gamers themselves all over the world are coming forward and asking for help and admitting to being addicted to video games. That should tell us all something is not right within our community.

I am pretty sure that seeing medication prescribed or visits to the psychiatrist for a so called new addictive disease would be a huge loss for us all as gamers. That is no way to solve this type of addiction.

Understanding

We will take just a little time to understand that anything in life can be addictive if we allow it. Most people are addicted to the cell phone to the point of total co-dependence. Who's gonna be willing to admit that? Blame is being placed on gaming manufacturers and designers for our own addictive, co-dependent lifestyles. This is the way people chose to live. Take responsibility for yourself to better your "Game Style" and create healthy gaming habits that can evolve your playing while decreasing your dependency for only gaming. By developing a healthy "Game Style," you will begin to understand that by increasing blood flow and introducing simple, positive theories, you can be the "Game Master" and enjoy the support of your body, peers and family within the gaming community.

Gamers Unite

Let's stand up and say we don't need video game addiction to be listed as an addictive disease. Yes, some of us need help, but we can conquer this as a community. We will look to the gaming community for ways to diversify ourselves. We will understand that continual game play will have its consequences just like any other form of dependency. Long term repetition will lead to burn out, lack of progression, and deterioration of the muscle support systems that are so important to gaming. Doing most things constantly, every day has the very same affects. This is the most basic principle in life.

If you want to remedy most addictions, make it your job. Find a way to get paid for gaming. Go to school for two years for video game programming. Once it becomes something you have to do to get a pay check, you won't want to do it as much anymore. Addiction solved and you'll be able to pay the bills by returning your talents to the gaming community.

By introducing ergonomic ways to better your game, you will be balancing your body, eyes and brain through the development of complete muscle support systems. This will be backed by finding creative ways to enjoy gaming without actually having a controller in your hand.

So, in summary it is each and every one of our responsibility to see that society is not given another chance to repeat past mistakes with the our gaming community. We are gaming to have fun. Everyone knows, if all you do is have fun...fun loses context. But seriously, hard work toward your goals with healthy habits is what elevates progression and alleviates addiction. Enough said...Let's give it a try and see what happens. You will win.

Only a matter of time...

.....When kids used to be kids and run in circles, up and down stairs, makes noises, and/or twirl around in a circle people use to laugh; now we give them Ridalin. When people used to have issues getting out of bed because they haven't seen their feet in years because of their stomachs we use to call them fat; now it's labeled a disease. When we had ups and downs they were just that, ups and downs; now over 170 million Anti-Depressant prescriptions are being filled annually in the U.S. alone.

.....It's only a matter of time before being able to do what we love because of who you are is labeled a disease, addiction, deficiency of well-being. Then soon after that I'm sure we will all be recommended a drug of some sort to stifle such a characteristic. It's very important, I believe, not to be controlled by something, but not have to give up what you love. Yet, then again be able to realize when that line of problem vs. enjoyment has been crossed. It seems that people lack moderation these days, whether it be eating, smoking, drinking, even working; and as much as I hate to admit it, gaming.

....."Do what you love." Is the most important part of all this, take that passion that is The Game, as well as that enjoyment you get out of it and rather then have it be what you can do When you can, make it what you Do and who you are. Then for the rest who just want to enjoy themselves, do just that. Just don't forget about the fact that moderation will keep that enjoyment at its peak.
