Do what I did, get all three eventually. Last purchase was PS3 to get ready for MGS4, and along with the fact I bought a new 40 inch Samsung 1080p LCD, so I figured I'd pick it up as a Blu-Ray player anyway.
Depending on what kind of games your after... if you tend to play Local MP alot and like party style games, then buy a Wii, but PS3 is a decent games console and media machine, it also offers a solid selection of games, alot 360 ports and some very good exclusives (Metal Gear Solid much?), and despite what people say, Playstation Online is alot less than a joke but rather something in time that will easily compete with XBox Live. If your a big movie buff, then the Blu-Ray player function of the PS3 will impress you, I myself quite like movies so Bluray to me was quite a big factor (since HD-DVD is about dead now).
i have a wii and a ps3, so i can help you a little :p
it all comes down to, whats your favourite genre?
ps3 is more for the "hardcore" genres, like FPS, RPG, etc.
while the wii is more for the games that youll enjoy with more people.
it does have some FPSs too, but theyre more "innovative", using the wiimote. i personally prefer the old fashioned analog sticks.
it sucks though, because the majority wii games out right now suck, other than first party ones.
