Does anybody know any good noise damping ideas for drums? Right now I'm using socks.... but it's kinda weird looking... BTW, socks do work for the foot pedal! Just take a sock, fold it over once and stick it between the foot pedal and the base. But again, it doesn't look very good. PM me with ideas if you have any.. thanks!

one of the best games to play with friends the lack of creating a band to play the tour with online was a let down but still great game and im lucky enough to not have any problems with the guitar or drums

Are Rock Band Drums like Real World Drums?

It’s been widely reported that playing Rock Band drums is eerily similar to playing real world drums, far more so than any other fake plastic rock instrument. Take it from Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulous:

You can take a person that’s playing on the expert levels in Rock Band on the drums and put them on a real drum set, and they can play the drums. And I watched this happen with a Q&A staff of 25-30 people. Maybe 2 or 3 of those had experience of being drummers, but they’ve been playing the game for months now, and what we’ve got is 30 drummers in the Q&A department who are pounding away in the Hard and Expert settings. These people have learned the fundamentals of drums, and this isn’t abstracting fundamentals — you can put these people on a drum set and they have some basic skills now. As a payoff for playing a video game, that’s incredible! Rock Band is going to be out there training this wave of new young drummers, and that’s a really exciting aspect of the project for us.

Kevin, who regularly gets 98 to 99 percent on expert drums in Coheed and Cambria’s “Welcome Home”, put that theory to the test in a recent epsiode of G4’s Attack of the Show. He met with Coheed and Cambria and substituted for the real drummer!

How did he do? I don’t want to spoil the surprise.

What did we learn here today, kids? Rock Band rocks — and so does Coheed and Cambria.

See for yourself!

I can play guitar on expert... I can sing on expert... When I play drums I look like an infant banging on the coffee table. One of th+$e best games EVER! I'm serial...

The drums I have are in pretty bad shape, and they're practically new.

But the drums are fun even though difficult for people with no sense of rhythm (mee).

GREAT game though! The character customization's pretty cool!

I love this game...like Bubbles said though, the hammer-ons, pull-offs are more difficult in this game, although probably more realistic? In any case, I love the songs on this game...many I've been wanting to play for a looooong time.

It's not even real.

It's easy, the charts suck ass, and it's just bad.

Good party idea but it was just made shitty.

Amazing game to get drunk and jam to, especially when you have a full band. Round some buddies up, but a few bottles of Jager and rock out, trust me, you won't be dissappointed.

This game is crazy fun but those hammer-ons and pull-offs are harder than in Guitar Hero III... overall though... I LOVE this game. Funner when you have groups.

I tried the guitar part for the first time tonight. So far it's stupid easy compared to guitar hero games. Or maybe its because I got wicked good at it and didn't notice. But I played the first 30 or so songs on hard and got 5 stars on all of them, some of them 100%. One thing that is REALLY awesome is that the hammer on notes are half the width of regular ones, so you can tell when you can hammer and when you can't.

The drums, however, are a whole different ball game. They aren't messing around with it. You have to be EXACTLY on beat or you fail. If you are off beat even just a little, you lose. They don't give you any leeway like they do with the guitar. The only song on there I played that I actually know in real life is Enter Sandman, and playing it on there feels right. It seriously is exactly like playing it for real. I played through on medium and it was very challenging. I wonder how much harder it gets on expert.

My biggest complaint is the song I was looking forward to the most, Run to the Hills, is a freaking cover. It's not a terrible cover, but you can tell it's not Iron Maiden singing it.

The graphics are freaking sweet. It doesn't look all cartoony like guitar hero, it looks very realistic, although the characters are proportioned a little cartoony but not to the extent of GH.

The game has a whole ton of little perks that should have been in guitar hero but aren't. Solos are special parts of the song, it lights up blue and tells you what % of the solo you played correctly, etc. There's a little meter that shows you how close you are to hitting the next multiplier, there's parts for drums where you get to wail whatever notes you want, the guitar has a little switch to switch between whichever distortion sounds you want... also there is INSANE customization. You can create different characters to play with, earn money for different instruments, shirts, pants, hats, hair does, shoes, gloves, whatever, its totally endless and each piece has several options for coloring, with like 20 colors for each option.

Overall its just a much more polished, all around better game than guitar hero 3, and that's saying a lot. Even if it was only for guitar, it would STILL be better. If you own an xbox360 or ps3 and you like music, you owe it to yourself to get this game

Great game to play when you have a full band! Juice Junkies Rule!! :P

The only thing I didn't like was the guitar controller.....it SUCKS! I have to use the Guitar Hero controller instead.

Solo mode is fun, but this game is all about playing as a full band. This is one of the best party games ever made. The drums are awesome and easily the most difficult instrument in this game. The guitar is noticeably easier than the Guitar Hero games as well. Still, it's fun to play when playing as a full band. The mic is also fun and can be rather difficult as well.

This Game Will Be The Attraction For Birthday Parties and get-togethers alike.Just Walking in and seeing the drumset just Calls for attention. I would invest in it no matter what.

said at December 4, 2007 at 8:57 am:

If you have roommates or friends that are constantly coming over, and you're all music fans, then you'll definitely want to invest in this game. If you liked Guitar Hero, you'll LOVE Rock Band. There's no question about it.

The gameplay is smoother, the songs are amazing, the downloadable content is even cheaper than Guitar Hero! What more do you need?!

Sing, play bass, play lead guitar, play rhythm guitar, play drums, do whatever you want!

If you're in it for maybe a single player experience, look no further. This is like having 3 games in one! Sing, play guitar, or play drums through solo tour. Even go online and form a band or duel it out and test your skills against the world.

Check out rockband.com for more info and to check out the awesome community!
