In a word...NO.

Honestly, all these HD remakes are nothing more than a money grab...and I'm really surprised that so many "smart" gamers are being this stupid for re-buying older games for $60 simply for the eyecandy or the trophy sets. Seriously, you can pick up the same game for 1/4 of the price usually just by getting the older version and the only thing you miss is smoothed out graphics.

A lot of "Smart" gamers also sold their older consoles, or would like to not have to dig out said console everytime they want to play 1 game for an hour. IMO it's a good move, and none of the HD remakes have been 60 bucks for 1 game, in fact even for collections the most expensive I've seen in the MGS collection for 50 and it comes with a console exclusive of MGS Peace Walker, which is still 30 on its own via PSP.

That's why I'm such a fan of Backwards Compatible units and of my PS3...one unit to play them all! Sony's biggest mistake this generation was taking out the multiple generation of playability for the later released consoles.

I may be too touchy about the remakes. Mostly cause of getting my fill of the "new age" of gamer where trophy sets and accomplishments trump actual gaming. (That's why I'm here) I understand, and enjoy, getting that lil *ding*, but damn...it ain't the be all, end all to why you do it, IMO. Anymore, I seriously think that if they re-issued Spice World with a trophy set it would be a million seller.

While I agree with the BC thing, It was a huge loss on their part to include it as all BC enabled units had a literal PS2 inside each PS3, PS1 is still supported up to 98% as its all software based, PS2 emu was done via hardware and thus once PS3 games flooded the market they could remove it, save some bank and no one would really care too much.

i just bought an older ps3 that plays ps1,ps2 and ps3 games for the fact that i love a lot of ps1 and ps2 games. so i was willing to spend some extra coin. i hope the next playstation at least plays ps3 and ps4 games.

Probably the 1st issue of hardware will. Sony likes to push continued support for the previous generation while waiting for the new one's game library to fill up. Although I'd love a 4 gen system...I really don't expect to see more than just PS3/PS4 support for their next system.
