You are prolly referring to the Shoutbox, http://www.pwned.com/shoutbox/ (Which when it was coded with Ajax it was an instant chat also. Just not all nasty'd up with Flash)

i tried to get into the chat a couple times but it was dead and i think once it put me to sleep

this last month the chatbox continually disconnect after an average time of 5 mins. it doesn't matter if we have a large group going on in the cb, or if there is just one or two people.
