split-screen

Postby solace7394 » Fri Oct 22, 2010 6:45 pm

What do you guys think of how a lot of companies are removing split-screen from their games and making it so the only multiplayer is online multiplayer? I for one love online multiplayer, but split-screen (and subsequently, system link) aren't entirely useless. Some people still like to play with friends and family in real life. A good model for split-screen is what Halo does, where you can have up to four people playing online at the same time, even if three of those people don't have Xbox Live Gold. Some games that don't have split-screen are Team Fortress 2, Aliens vs Predator (2010), and Medal of Honor (2010). Who else would like to see future games have split-screen and system link in them, in addition to online?

Who needs to play in the same room as people anymore. They are bags of death germs. Death germs that look on my side of the screen. Stop that! Lucky shot my ass!

In all seriousness, it does make sense to me do have split screen in some games still. TVs are getting bigger and bigger. Ample space for all involved.

Split screen is most definitely a must have. Especially for those people that don't have internet or the people that always have friends over to hang out and play. I for one do not play any multiplayer games online. I just have friends come over and we play at my house.

I rather enjoy split screen co-op, such as Gears. Or WaW, that was fun, I wish all of the Call of Duty games had co-op. :(
