1. Do you believe that the better than life apperances of videogame characters hold you to higher expectations in order to impress the favored gamer gender?

Not really. I think they provide an image to shoot for (the same way watching 300 might motivate guys to work out), but I don't think anyone in their right mind expects a human to emulate a video game body. We actually have organs that need room to live.

2. Do you find how women are portrayed as large breasted bimbos in most games deemening to women?

No, the same way I don't find guys that are ripped and muscular demeaning to guys. It's just a video game.

3. Do you believe that the images in video games are worse than those in advertising and television?

Nah.. again, just video games. I think a lot of the issues are only there because people make them issues. People almost look to be offended at times. A girl that feels like the Tomb Raider chick isn't fair because she has to try for that standard has issues in her head and needs someplace to put the blame besides herself. Same goes for a guy in that particular situation.

It's all about self esteem. If you're not happy with your body, any image that shows a skinner/fatter body is a threat. Video games just seem to be the easiest target right now..

First off, let me apologize to everyone for our downtime. I hate when the site goes down just as much as anyone. It was not a planned down, so we didn't get a chance to warn anyone.

So onto what happened.. I dont claim to be a server expert, so let me just give you the words of our server admin Steve:

The power failure [in our colo] last week caused a problem on the servers raid hard drive configuration. 3ware raid cards suck... they only protect from a drive that fails of old age, but don't protect from drives acting erroneously. I had to take the server down to perform maintenance on the drives, and am removing the 3ware raid configuration so this problem wont come back again. This requires formating and rebuilding the disk arrays from scratch. No data will be lost. This is requiring a fair amount of manual labor for replacing physical parts and copying many gigs of data to backup disks.

Since the site was down, Steve actually used his magic server hands to make us significantly faster. He did all this on a Sunday, so my sincere thanks goes to him.

To help make this not happen again, we are looking into purchasing a second server. This will allow us to redirect the site onto that when we have expected or unexpected downtime. It'd be kinda like YouTube does it where you get a page that says "We are broken. Please dont hit us. PLEASE DAD IM SOR" .. or you know .. something of that nature.

Anyway, I didn't want to keep you guys in the dark (much like our server) about everything.

As for the CoD Pro Chat that was scheduled, we will be moving that to another day (maybe next Sunday?). Andy is working on that end.

Yup, I finally caught it in action. I did figure out what's causing it and figured out a workaround, so I'll implement that this weekend and the problem will go away.

If there's anything in the shoutbox that you feel is inappropriate, please shoot me a message on the site and I'll take care of it. If possible, take a screenshot so I have proof.

There have def been times where I questioned the discussion in there. This site needs to be available for anyone that wants to use it and when you have people having conversations that have a sexual nature it can't be. As well, when a girl comes onto the shoutbox and the first thing they get bombarded with is sexual requests it's pretty fucking annoying (and sad).

Either way, if you start to get frustrated and are getting upset, please get ahold of me and I'll see what I can do.
