i guess the asme argument could be applied to comic book movies. The problem is that sometimes following the canon leads to very boring lulls in the story. not to mention hitman really has no plot, so i think they did good to make it entertaining. the thing you need to realize is that video game movies aren't made for gamers. they're made for the general public to turn profit, and sometimes you get a little moment of fan service to gamers, ie when alice drops the gun and then drops herself to pick it up like in code veronica.
