And yes, you being 17 DOES affect this situation becuause you're obviously too young to have experience in my line of work in a professional atmosphere. You see, I've had at least 3 different graphic design jobs in the last 4 years, each of which I left for the next due to better benefits, almost double the salary, and closer location. I won't get into how much I make, but let's just say I make more money than everyone I know in my age bracket. Much, much more.

And I also have CONSTANT offeres for contract work, paying anywhere from $40 to $60+ an hour (as is standard in this line of work, depending on your skillset).

So no, you're wrong. Thanks for TRYING to offer me some advice, but I happen to know that real talent + an impressive portfolio will more than make up for lack of degree in my line of work.

No, Macs are not overpriced. You get what you pay for. The hardware used in Macs are all standardized, and great quality. I have never, ever had a problem with anything on any of the Macs I've used or owned. I can't say that for the handful of PCs I've had in my day.

And Macs are hard to upgrade? How so? I just ordered 2gigs of ram and a new processor for my Mac Mini, and it takes about 5 minutes to install both. MacPro's are even easier, and you can upgrade your hard drive, video card, ram, whatever.

Have you even TRIED to upgrade a Mac, or are you just hopping aboard the bandwagon of people who spout off inane comments and hate Macs just because they can't afford them? Because that's what it's looking like.

video cards are a rip off for macs when you upgrade / always.

That's a really naive statement. I'm assuming you are NOT a computer expert in any way, shape or form, yes? Apples are great for everything these days. Namely graphic design/art, movies and movie production, music and music production, print work, etc.

I dare you to step into any major media business that has ANYTHING to do with video processing, graphic design, or music production and find someone NOT using a Mac (someone other than the Receptionist for crying out loud).

I've worked for many large print and design companies in my area and 99% of the people that have to do anything with the actual production and design of print materials, video, music, web design, or anything of that nature ALL use Macs.

Furthermore, Macs are FULLY capable for gaming. A colleague of mine has a MacPro 2.66 core2duo with a NVIDIA GeForce 8800gt 512mb, and he has windows XP loaded on a partition and he can play just about any game out there and run it perfectly and smoothly. All his gaming peripherals work as well. Sure, you have to have Windows loaded onto the machine but that's just because not all games are made for Macs, not because Macs are incapable of handling them.

And the only reason why games are made primarily for Windows is because PCs are more standardized than Macs because of the head-start they had when computers started becomming mainstream. Again, not because Macs are incapable of RUNNING said games well.

Perhaps you should do a bit of research before making such bold statements, you might save a little face.

thats my personal difference. i have used a mac enough and a pc enough to know the benefits of each for my uses and making professional video/music/photos has nothing to do with me. macs are horrible for gaming because theyre overpriced and extremely hard to upgrade.

still surprised to find no one to come on, now linux is the best cus it takes 50000 hours to configure correctly and if you fuck up in 1 step youre fucked.
