i have all but the last 2 volumes of each series (reg and G.U) and i also have both anime series (.hack//sign and .hack//roots) which are both worth watching compared to the others.

Have fun with the series but i suggest in order to get the whole story like with some of the characters you encounter (like Bear, Crim, Subaru or Sora) watch the .hack//sign series and before you play the G.U. series, watch the .hack//roots series both of those anime series are prologues for the games. I just suggest this so you can get the gist of what's going on before the point where the players view comes in.
