So I just recently found this website, and I thought I'd sign up for fun and to meet interesting, mature gamers. And while I have talked to a few, I've been a little disappointed so far because the majority of the people I've seen in the shoutbox are just kids that hide behind their computers talking sh!t to random strangers. I know there is an ignore option, but maybe the shoutbox needs some kind of mediator that can ban people who just sit on there all day and night saying negative things and fighting with anyone and everyone. It really doesn't make the website look appealing to potential users when there is always box on the screen that's almost always has people who are on here just fighting, usually about things that have nothing to do with games.

Mmmkay, I know old post is old, but I feel the need to pick apart this thread and this can serve as a clarification for both all people currently here and for newcomers.

The majority of people in the Shoutbox are actually quite cool people. Talking shit to people is a kind of twisted hazing of sorts, and once you get to know a few people in there everything usually falls into place. That's not to say that there isn't the occasional dick in there, but they're usually either ignored or ostracized by a majority of the Shoutbox that is a kind of loose confederacy of people pretty much doing the virtual representation of hanging out with friends.

Also, only Andy can ban people. He's usually in the Shoutbox, but he's a very busy man, but other people, like me, can delete posts, but I prefer to not do so unless it gets really bad, and people who have seen it when it's really bad can attest to my efficiency at wiping slates clean.

However, as for your complaint that there are people who sit on there all day and night (and to those people: GO OUTSIDE) and we need a moderator, most of the staff on here have regular jobs or school and therefore can't be a full-time moderator.

In short, either use the ignore button, grow a thicker skin, or if you feel that someone is REALLY REALLY REEEEEEAAAAALLLLLLY (like srsly) threatening you or being hurtful, get screencaps and talk to Andy.
