Next upgrade will probably be in December and it'll most likely be a new Motherboard.

As long as you have a fairly recent mid-range graphics card there shouldn't be an issue on that front. However, emulators generally demand more CPU power than anything else, so a beefy CPU will go a long way towards making games playable. Of course, the emulator itself is still in development and and isn't worth fiddling with for most users at the moment. The emulator is fairly stable compared to just a year ago, but I'd only really recommend it to people who want to help test games and report bugs in order to improve speed and compatibility or people who don't mind playing games with slowdowns, graphical glitches, crashes (the frequency of which varies from game to game).

In order for PCSX2 to run it requires the BIOS files from the console, and obviously a game image. Obtaining these violates the DMCA, and as a result shouldn't be discussed on forums such as this. If you own both a PS2 and your own games it falls into a bit of a legal gray area, but still a subject best avoided.
