Aha! It does appear to be the dimensions.
I was just upping all my screenshots taken in 800 x 600 and letting the site resize. Some of these screenies I combined into GIFs and didn't bother to resize them either (whaddayamean lazy? Haha), so they too were 800 x 600.

I experimented by resizing the original. Here is what I found.

  • 100% - 800x600 = No animation (Original upload)

  • 90% - 720x540 = No animation

  • 85% - 676x507 = No animation

  • 80% - 640x480 = Animation works correctly

  • 75% - 600x450 = Animation works correctly

  • 50% - 400x300 = Animation works correctly

So it seems the golden dimensions for the largest possible animated GIF are 640x480

Thanks for your superfast response BTW, wasn't expecting to be answered so promptly.
Hope my experimenting helps you or others. :)

I'm having a problem with my animated GIFs.
They upload fine to 'My Pictures' and the little thumbnails are animated in 'Edit Pictures'.
But when it comes to viewing them full size they are no longer animated. If I go back into the 'Upload/Edit Pictures' section at any time, the thumbnails are still happy to animate.

The GIFs are all under 1mb in size, but could it be the dimensions that are the problem?

I've seen these First Person Shooter gaming vests around the net for a while. Just out of random curiosity, I'd be interested to know:

  • Do any of you guys own, or have a friend who owns one of these vests?

  • If you do, what do you/they think of it?

  • If you don't, would you/they buy one?

  • Would you wear it while others could see you? ;)

  • If you don't have one, is it just the price that puts you off?

  • Are these vests the future of gaming or the most ridiculous idea you've ever seen?

For those that don't know what they are yet:
The '3rd Space' FPS gaming vest is worn by the gamer and is connected to your PC via USB.
The vest "contains eight active zones that simulate the direction and forces of bullet fire ... as they occur in the game."

off on on off on off off off:off on on off on off off on.
Here's an amusing story that's been bouncing around the internet recently.
It hasn't popped up as a narticle yet so I thought I would drop it here for those that have yet to hear about it.

It concerns the cover art used for the Wii port of Capcom's Okami. Eagle-eyed purchasers of the game have spotted a glaring mistake on the part of the cover art designer.
The background illustration appears to be blatantly ripped from the internet. Specifically IGN.com. The evidence being - the IGN watermark STILL present on the finished product! The image below attempts to illustrate it, but to be honest you can't really make it out too well from that. So if you have a copy go check it now, hehe.

And here's the original background pic (below)

Now I know it's not really that big a deal. Hell I don't even own a Wii, so what do I care?
The designer may or may not have had the permission to use the image, but regardless, it's very sloppy. And shows contempt for the gamers that splash the cash to fill their pockets.
Consider the fact that the price tags for new games are as much as they are, so that all those involved in the production of the game are justly rewarded for their hard work and 'talent'.

Hmm, wonder how much Capcom would pay me to design their future game covers? I know how to use Google image search ;)
